Ingemar Ekblad's summary New Vision Article

During the first weekend in July 20 players from Mbale Tigers represented their respective schools at National Schools (Karteregga Memorial) Table Tennis Championship in Kampala. A tournament headed by, amongst others, Uganda Table Tennis Association president and Tigers Chairman Mr Matsyetsye and national team and Tigers coach Mr Mutete. With the majority of defending champions representing Tigers at club level the buss from Mbale arrived in Kampala with high expectations.
Come Sunday and finals, the tables were crowded by youths from Tigers. In the boys cadet competition, Tigers Pharao Moses representing Maluku Primary came trough as the winner among the Cadets while defending champion Eddie Omongole (Progressive) beat fellow tiger Ivan Wamusi (Manafwa High School) in a tight 5-set match to win among the older boys.
In the Women Cadets B. Athieno (Railways) was victorious and stood out as the only non tiger to bring home a gold medal. The older girls tournament showed  unexpected results as last year champion Z. Khakha and runner up R. Nekesa both had early slip ups. The final was instead to be a nerve wrecking 5 set match between the two tigers Amina Namaganda (Progressive) and Florence Seera (Malukhu). The former succeeded in fighting of new prodigy Seera to secure the win.
And on beforehand promising weekend for the Tiger youths fulfilled the high expectations and brought a buss filled with winners back to Mbale.
